About Our Board
Inclusion Yukon is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who provide strategic leadership, oversight, and guidance to support our mission and ensure the long-term sustainability of our work.
Board members bring a range of skills, experiences, and perspectives that help strengthen our organization and its impact in the community. Board members are nominated and elected by the membership at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and serve on a volunteer basis. The Board works closely with staff to support organizational priorities, ensure good governance, and uphold our commitment to the people and communities we serve.
Current Board Members
Lynn Pigage — Board President
Lynn Pigage is currently the President of Inclusion Yukon and represents us at the national level on the Inclusion Canada board. Lynn brings 36 years of passion in helping her daughter, Mallory, and others with an intellectual disability live inclusive lives in the community. When she isn’t advocating for disability rights she is sipping on a lavender latte or kayaking - but never both at the same time.
Karen Berrel — Board Secretary
Karen is a retired mom and grandmother, who is one part of the team supporting her now adult daughter who happens to have autism. Helping people in a variety of ways has been a lifelong vocation for Karen, which explains her work experiences as an Educational Assistant to high school students at Porter Creek Secondary, and her later work in the ATIPP office with Yukon Government. In her “spare” time she can be found either creating art (in the forms of quilts and painted items), teaching quilting and working at the quilt store, volunteering for the Fireweed Market, or constantly seeking to learn about all types of things in life. Karen is the current “keeper of the meeting notes” (secretary) on the Board of Inclusion Yukon.
Miaclaire Woodland — Board Member
Miaclaire supported individuals with intellectual disabilities in their search for meaningful employment during her time at Autism Yukon and Inclusion Yukon in 2020-2024. She especially enjoyed supporting artists through the Self Employment Initiative and the Fireweed Market! Although she’s going to school for geology now, she is excited to stay connected via the Inclusion Yukon Board. Learning and speaking up about her own neurodiversity has allowed her to connect with, support, and learn from people in all walks for life. She continues to be passionate about inclusive hiring, reducing stigma, and increasing empathy wherever she goes. In her free time she can be found playing violin or hiking with her dog.
Pat Townsend — Board Member
Hi. My name is Pat Townsend. I have just joined the Inclusion Yukon board and look forward to serving on it. I’ve been actively working with different boards and agencies for persons with disabilities for over 35 years. I have a son who has an intellectual disability and he is very involved with People First of Manitoba and his community. Hobbies I enjoy are quilting, pottery and playing bridge. I am pleased to be part of the board and look forward to the opportunity of working alongside you.
