Inclusion Yukon offers employment support for individuals experiencing disability through several different programs. Read more about them below!
MentorAbility is a program that facilitates unique, short-term (from 1 hour to 1 day) mentorship opportunities between folks experiencing disability and employers they are interested in working with. The program is a national initiative from the Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) that promotes the recruitment, employment, and retention of persons experiencing disability. Inclusion Yukon is proud to be the MentorAbility Hub for the Yukon. You can read more about this program here.

The Yukon has a workforce waiting to be discovered.
Across Canada, employers are facing a labour shortage. Yet at the same time, approximately 75% of working-age Canadians with intellectual disabilities or autism remain unemployed or underemployed. That’s a workforce of talented, capable people who are ready, willing and able to work.
Operating since 2014, RWA is a national workforce development initiative administered by Inclusion Canada and the Autism Alliance of Canada, with the support of the Government of Canada. The program connects job seekers with intellectual disabilities and autism with employers across Canada — including right here in the Yukon. To date, RWA has helped create 6,300 full- and part-time jobs across the country, and over 160 jobs in the Yukon!
More than a job match
RWA works with both job seekers and employers to make employment work for everyone. Participants receive support with job exploration, applications, interviews, workplace transitions, and job coaching. Employers have access to HR guidance, pools of job seekers, and ongoing workplace support. And the results are clear: 83% of surveyed employers rated employees hired through RWA as the same or better than their average employee in retention, productivity, and contribution to profit margins.
Building a stronger Yukon workforce
Inclusion Yukon brings this national program to Whitehorse — helping employers discover new talent while supporting people with intellectual disabilities and autism to find meaningful employment. When we create opportunities for people who have been overlooked, everyone benefits. RWA is helping Yukon employers fill vacancies, supporting people in building careers, and helping create a more inclusive and stronger workforce.

You do not need to provide an official diagnosis to qualify as a job-seeker. This program is for adults (18 years and older) with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who are actively looking for a job.
